While you might not be someone who likes to replace their smartphone with the best and newest version every year or so, when you start to notice that your phone isn’t operating as well as it once was, it might be time to start considering what you can do rectify this or what your next options might be for getting a phone that will work for you.
If this is the situation in which you find yourself, here are three things you should do when your phone is on its last legs.
1. Clean up Your Data
One of the first things that you should do if you’re not wanting to immediately buy a new phone is to clean up the one you’re currently using. In many cases, a phone that slows down can be made faster by cleaning up the data on the phone.
Depending on the type of phone that you’re using, you may want to uninstall some of the apps that you’re not using so that your phone has more internal space to work with. This can help things start to get moving quicker. Additionally, you can also uninstall and then reinstall apps that you do want to keep using to see if you can get any positive momentum after this as well.
2. Start Shopping around for Your Next Phone
If you don’t think that the above-mentioned fix is really going to have much of an impact on your phone, or you’re dealing with other issues that it doesn’t really make sense to pay to fix right now, your next move should be to start shopping around for your next phone.
Choosing what phone you want to use is a big decision, so make sure you do some research if you don’t already know what you want to go with. But once you do know, spend your time researching how to get that phone at the best price. This might include waiting for a flash sale or or going with a carrier promotion. Once you’ve purchased a new phone, carefully choose the apps to install on your new smartphone.
3. Figure out What You Want to Do with Your Old Cell Phone
After you get your new phone, you then have to decide what you want to do with your old smartphone since you won’t be using it anymore.
There are lots of ways that you can put your phone to use for you one last time, like trading it in for a gift card or for money off of your new phone. You can also continue using it for something like an alarm clock or a toy for your kids. Additionally, you can also donate or recycle it if it has the right capabilities.
If you think that your phone is about to give up the ghost and you’ll be needing to get a new one soon, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you figure out your next steps.
