Motorola recently rolled out Android 8.1 to Moto G5s Plus in India and other countries. After the update, app icons are in the round shape by default. Many users want to change that shape style and use something different. Here we’re showing you steps for how you can change icon shapes in your Moto G5 and G5s Plus.
First of all make sure you have updated your phone to the latest version: Android 8.1.0
Step 1
Now, come to the home screen on your phone by pressing ‘home’ button (center button among three in the bottom).
On your home screen, touch and hold the screen. Now you’ll see three options in the bottom.
Wallpaper, Widgets and Home Settings.
Tap Home Settings and you’ll see below screen. Here tap “Change icon Shape” and you’ll find more icon shapes.
- System default
- Square
- Squircle
- Circle (same as system default)
- Tear drop
Here you can choose your preferred style and see how they look. You can perform the same steps whenever you want to change icon shapes.
Step 2 (perform only if ‘change icon shape’ is not available in home settings)
We realized that some users are unable to see option “Change icon shape” in home settings. We’ve found a solution for that. We tested it on a Moto G5s Plus and it worked for us.
For those who are not seeing ‘change icon shape’ option in home settings, they need to enable developer options first. It’s very easy and you can do it by following below simple steps.
- Go to “Settings” on your phone, scrolled down to about phone and tap on it.
- Now scroll down and you’ll find ‘build number’. Tap seven times on the build number.
- Now, you’ll see message that developer options are enabled.
Now, you can perform step 1 as mentioned above and you’ll be able to change icon shapes.
